Media Center: 
The Southwest DeKalb High School Media Center holdings include over 15,000 fiction, non-fiction, and reference books and fifty print periodical subscriptions. Books located in the media center can be accessed through the automated circulation system, DESTINY
Mission Statement:  
To provide leadership, collaboration and technology in developing and implementing a program that supports the school curriculum, focusing on student achievement and lifelong learning.

Utilize DESTINY to find books and resources located in the Southwest DeKalb High School Media Center.  Students and staff can log on to destiny to determine books currently checked out, books overdue and library fines.

In 1995, the University System of Georgia (USG) launched a visionary project to provide equal access to information and to improve the quality of library services for all Georgians. GALILEO (GeorgiA Library LEarning Online) is Georgia’s award-winning virtual library of licensed, commercial databases and selected free Internet resources that offers access to thousands of full-text magazines, journals, encyclopedias, and electronic books to every Georgia citizen.

By collaborating and sharing resources, GALILEO benefits more than nine million user-constituents in Georgia wherever they are—school, home, library, or office. Georgia Peach Teen Award Nominees
The purpose of the Georgia Peach Award is to highlight and promote the best current young adult literature for Georgia high school age students, to encourage young adults to read and to promote the development of cooperative school and public library services for young adults. Teens vote for their favorite books out of the year's top 20 nominees at their high schools and local public libraries.  Click the picture above to see a list of the current nominees!

SWD Media Center now has eBooks available for check out. Click here for a list of titles that are currently available in an electronic format. Use the tips below to get started with eBooks!
  • Books can be downloaded via a free app at to any IOS, Android or Kindle Fire Device.
  • eBooks can be accessed from any device with an internet connection and browser.
