DCSD to Administer PSAT/NMSQT to all 10th Grade Students
Attached is a letter to SWD parents of 10th grade students detailing how their students can take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 19, 2016. Please read the attached letter, fill out the student information and return to the counseling department by October 12th in order for your student to participate.

Travel to France and Spain for Spring Break
This year the World Language Department is sponsoring a trip to France and Spain during Spring Break. We will visit Paris and Biarritz in France. We will visit San Sebastian, Bilbao, Pamplona and Barcelona in Spain. The trip starts March 31 and returns April 8, 2017. No school days will be missed. The cost of the trip for students is $3120 and for adults the cost is $3495. The price does not include lunch, spending money or the cost of a passport. If you are interested in going you need to sign up before September 1, the price goes up by $200 that day. All payments are sent directly to the tour company. Panther Pride!
Kyanna Simone Simpson, a 2015 graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School, announces that her endeavors in the film industry have led to her life-long dream coming true. She will be playing the younger version of Ms. Oprah Winfrey's character in a movie called "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks". Her friends who took biology at SWD have told her that they were required to read the book in school. Ms. Simpson adds that it is a coincidence that she is playing this part. When she cheered at SWD, her nickname on the cheerleading team was "Oprah" so the part was meant to be. Congratulations on your success!
